playtime ii

Time for another round of The Miss Kate Had Some Trouble With The Machine This Morning And My Espresso Was Undrinkable So I Needed Something To Occupy Myself With During My Morning Commute To Keep Awake Game.

(Capt, I know you haven't yet received your prize for winning the last round, but I swear it will eventually surface.)

A recap of the rules: I report on a personalized license plate I saw during my commute and you all guess on the kind of car. The more detail, the better.

Today's plate: LD ZEPPLN

I'm gonna say it's a metallic grey Toyota or Acura sedan, late model, with no other personalizations (ie bumper stickers etc), being driven by a well dressed guy in his late 40's/early 50's who used to be a huge rebel back in the day, but has since finished university, got a job, got married, got a mortgage and settled down. His wife bought him the license plate when he had his mid-life crisis.

Either that or a Volkswagon Camper bus thingy, in violent orange, a bit of rust (but not too much) being driven by above middle-aged-guy's hippy son, on his way to score a major load of weed.

I'm still working on my guess, but I need a two points of clarification.

How many friggin guesses does the Capt'n get, and do I get the same number?

The number of guesses is unlimited. However, your chances of winning decrease with each guess as can be expressed in the following formula: W=Q*1/-N(A*S) (where W=Chances of Winning, Q= Guess Quality, N=Number of Guesses), A=The Complete Arbitrariness of My Judging, S=Quality and Quantity of Sylow's complaints)

I apologize for the delay. It took some work to come up with a guess that hadn't already been made.

I'm guessing the license plate costs more than the car. Despite the recent cold snap, the woman driving this car had the window down to keep her cigarette from irreparably injuring the infant in the car seat next to her. The car is two-tone (three if you count rust), and the primary color is indeed, primer. You probably didn’t notice that her husband was passed out in the backseat. It’s his muscle car, but he’s still too drunk to drive himself to work. He’s a fork-lift operator, and he knows he’s good at it. The license plate was actually given to him by his mother. She stole it off the Chevy Nova he was conceived in, and he hopes that by displaying it proudly on his Fairmont Futura he might someday find the father he never knew.

Sylow - I think those people used to live down the street from me...only the husband didn't have a job.

Two comments in three minutes both involving mullets. Could make for some difficult judging.

The only mullet in the car I described was on the infant... They have a strict hair policy for fork-lift operators.

i've seen this. the car is a mid 80s trans am, it belongs to this biker guy named todd, and was stolen and taken for a joy ride by those irrepressible ne'er-do-wells beavis and butthead.

a hyperactive woman in a green mini van...oh wait wrong contest.

My real guess is a late model black SUV, probably an Explorer or even an Expedition with a 45 year old guy who has a mid-level managment job with a tech firm. He's had the plate for 20 years. It was first on his El Camino, at a time in his life when he had a mullet, and then transfered it on to his Dodge Daytona, with the turbo boost, then to his Toyota sedan and finally to the SUV.

He's got a wife and three kids, a boss that screams at him all day, but he's trying to hold on to his image of being cool.
