various updates

Miss Kate and I are back from vacation. It was a blast.

I still haven't bitten any of my fingernails.

I am on a quest for the world's greatest sangria.

I am unphased by how gay that last one might be.

I am still experiencing difficulty in my attempts to learn to like bananas.

Really, I'm not gay.

We got a piano.

My tradition of sneaking Malibu Rum into a baseball game and mixing with lemonade continues with unabated success.

I don't eat pop tarts...never did.

Dude, I forgot to tell you. SB & I found a cookbook we almost bought you.

101 Banana recipies

SB said buying it would be a waste of money because somehow when you talk about bananas, you're really talking about Yiddish Porn.

Who knew?

This weekend I am gonna make myself a peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich. I'll let you all know how it goes. Elvis was WAY into Yiddish porn.

Ted, I read all of your free articles and not one is remotely concerned with sangria. Let's try to stay on topic.

Pop tarts are bad business! I will keep a look out for mind altering sangria. (this is what I look for in a drink)

I knew the pop tart comment would bring you back here to us, but who knew how it would affect blogworld?

Good recipe for white sangria follows:

2 (750-ml) bottles white wine, dry chilled
1 cup brandy --no rot gut
2 oranges, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
2 limes, sliced
2 plums chunked
a couple of peaches or pears or nectarines or grapes..you can even throw in a BANANA if you want (I don't)
1/4 cup castor sugar
ice
taste, need more sugar? if so add it in...
Club Soda...to taste

Muddle fruit with sugar --add wine, brandy ice and club soda..drink, drink some more, drink the whole damn pitcher and start again...

Yep, vacation = blastomatic.

Your nails are lovely.

Sangria quest is good b/c there are usually margaritas nearby.

Remember that no one thinks you're gay if I'm sitting on your lap while you drink that girl drink.

Baby, if you can't eat a fried banana, it's just not gonna happen.

Really, I know you're not gay.

That piano makes me more jealous of your unbelievable (and unfair!) musical ability.

See, I was sure that it was my tradition of sneaking booze into the ball game, that's such a southern decadent thing to do. You're my favorite playmate.

I have eaten countless pop tarts, before I discovered that unfortunate business about the gelatin. They taste best just out of the toaster with butter melted on top. That's right, butter melted on top.

butter on pop tarts, mayo on corn... you can take the girl out of the south, but you can't take the south out of the girl.

(and I think they have hippie pop tarts without gelatin at the co-op; will look for you next time I am there)

sparkle, being gay AND married to miss kate isn't so special, you know; it's the age of aquarius, or something.

I don't understand why anyone would want fruit in their wine... but, then again, I am a new convert to bloody mary spices in my beer, so who am I to talk?

paralox, thanks and umm...pies?

pg, send me the recipe when you find it...it can even be illegally mind altering.

mb, that sounds very similar to the recipe I am about to try but mine is with red wine which I like better mainly cuz of the purty purple color.

sylow, I can't think of what to say to you so I will just tell you that on my bike ride to work this morning I passed a guy on a bike holding his weiner dog.

amazing factoid: miss kate is all hot and buff yet thinks melted butter is a basic food group. she would put melted butter on a mayonaisse poptart

redballoon, I say that take the girl out of the south thing all the time...she doesn't always like it...could be the accent I use when I say it.

That bloody mary beer thing is proof that you and I have very different taste buds. The fact that it was the what I ordered is proof that I want to be more like you. No can do, though. That was nasty.

speaking of which,

The prediction that my Tushy Face Doctor post would produce weird search hits has been proven correct. It seems there is some porno thing out there that goes by the name Doctor Tushy.

I can only supposed that the people out there finding themselves at my blog after looking for 'doctor tushy' or 'forced tushy' end up very disappointed.

Miss Kate, I've known him a teeny bit longer than you have. Don't be so sure that door don't swing both ways. How do you think I learned that melted butter gets only better when mixed with syrup?

I just figured out what banana is, and now you gotta throw out 'fried banana'? I can't keep up.

There was a bar in Moscow, that served red beer in 32 ounce cups. (beer with tomato juice or bloody mary mix) They had shuffleboard and free peanuts in the shell. I had dinner there many times during grad school.

Didn't Elvis like his bananas with pancakes?

Elvis liked peanut butter, banana & honey sandwiches...but instead of bread he liked to use pancakes.

Yeah, I get it now.

Sparky, I'll get my mom to make you some of her tasty banana pudding if you want...It's delicious.

I have a good sangria recipie:
2 bottles red wine
1/3 cup sugar (I actually put less in there b/c I don't like it very sweet)
1/2 cup Licor #43 (or cointreau or triple sec)
2 lemons & 2 oranges sliced thin
2 cups selter water (I use fruity flavored selter like lemon/lime or berry)

Mix up everything but the selter & stick it in the fridge for at least 24 hours. Stir in selter just before serving. You can add a cup of brandy or cognac if you want, but I leave it out.

Serves 1.

I am actually a little bit happified from sangria this second. That recipe is similar to what I am currently drinking using brandy and cointreau. I think I would like the Licor 43.

Is selter redneck for seltzer, by the way?

Hey, you're the country boy from Long Island. I'm a city girl. You will have to educate me on the ways of the redneck.
